Lost Picnic Melbourne 2018

Bohemian outdoor music and food experience, Lost Picnic Melbourne, has brought on board Melbourne’s finest restaurant and food vendors to create a food line up as impressive as its music. Festival goers can choose from array of pop up restaurants, food trucks and hampers from the likes of Caravan of Caviar, Annam, French Saloon, Pho Nom, Beatbox Kitchen, Naughty Frenchy and St Gerry’s – all serving up picnic-perfect fare to a backdrop of Australia’s best music talent.

Lost Picnic Melbourne will be make its debut at Melbourne’s Flemington Nursery on 7 October and will feature an incredible line up including Tash Sultana, Meg Mac, Marlon Williams, Odette, Sons of the East, Big Words and Hot Potato Band.

Gastronomy food fare
Lost Picnic has rounded up Melbourne’s most popular food trucks to appear this year, with Beatbox Kitchen, Curry Up Now, Melbourne Paella Company, Royal Stacks, the Schnitzel Republic, Taco Truck, The Gozleme Station and The Kraken Squid set to serve up delicious street fare including paella, salt & pepper squid, gozleme, burgers and Indian.

Alongside the gastronomical spectacle of the food trucks, Lost Picnic will also play host to a number of pop up restaurants for the day. Kings of meat, Burn City Smokers, are set to bring their Melbourne twist on the American BBQ with a menu of smoked meats such as their 14 hour Smoked Beef Brisket, served with BBQ Sauce, mustard and pickles; their signature Hot Dog, a smoked cheese Kransky served with jalapeños, BBQ sauce and shaved cheese and their Chopped Whole Hog, a 10 hour roasted Western Plains pig served with BBQ sauce and wombok slaw. Those wanting to add a fancy touch to their day can look no further than a Caravan of Caviar, a dedicated caravan brought to Melbourne from British chef Ian Curley. Jerry Mai will be bringing authentic Vietnamese hawker food with Michelin star credentials in the form of Pho Nom.

Picnic lovers can spend the whole day on a rug and soak up the music with a number of pre-order options available from French Saloon, Kirks Wine Bar, Annam and The Pantry. Hampers are available for pre-order and pick up at $49 and will serve two people.
• French Saloon: Dabble in seafood, salads and sweets from The French Saloon with a Yarra Valley salmon caviar, Potted Ora King salmon rillettes, a prawn cocktail with marie rose dressing and iceberg lettuce and a vanilla scented ricotta with berry compote.
• Kirks Wine Bar: Spend the afternoon grazing on meats and cheese form Kirk’s Wine Bar whose hamper will include That’s Amore burrata, Fiore di burrata with truffled honey, spicy chorizo and sheep’s milk cheese with sherry glazed figs.
• Annam: Share a French-Vietnamese hamper from Pho Nom chef Jerry Mai. Dishes such as the pork terrine, Vietnamese coffee crème caramel, Laughing Cow cheese, cognac pate and baguettes pay homage to the French legacy of Vietnamese cooking.
• The Pantry: Hiro Sushi Bar will be serving Japanese tasters in the form of Panko crumbed Katsu dinner rolls, Miso salmon poke bowls, soba noodle salads and crème brûlée.

Sweet Street
To ensure that every meal ends on a sweet note, Lost Picnic organisers have built a Sweet Street to include tantalising Greek donuts from St Gerry’s, French crepes from Naughty Frenchy and specialty coffees and teas from Oscar Vintage Coffee Van.

Festival organisers have also added an extended bar where guests can pick up a bottle of wine or ice cool beer to enjoy with the feast.
