Highpoint Shopping Centre will host a colour-filled and custom-built play space for crafty kids these April School Holidays. From Monday 8 April to Sunday 14 April, kids can discover an interactive realm inside Highpoint’s House of Colour for a week of art and play.

Highpoint’s House of Colour will be a “home” like no other, with three bright and bold connecting rooms designed to be the ultimate funhouse for kids. Each room will focus on a different Pantone colour and will include interactive and entertaining activities for kids of all ages to enjoy. Highpoint’s littlest shoppers can look forward to:

The Living Room: step inside and discover the first room where Mini designers will love getting creative and decorating the white surfaces and quirky furniture with pink shapes and stickers. The room will act as a progressive piece of art for all kids to contribute to throughout the week.

50/50 Melbourne Comedy Festival

Michael Shafar is a self-proclaimed Jewish atheist, who loves a bargain, hates hugs, and always likes to be right. All jokes aside though – Michael has a really interesting story to tell about his diagnosis and survival of testicular cancer in 2017 through his new Melbourne International Comedy Festival show – 50/50.

Not one to appear to throw a pity party for himself, Michael’s jokes are dark, raw and very personal – however he has a warm, sweet style of humour which engages with his broadly diverse audience, despite the hilarious but sometimes R-rated content. His knack for finding the humour in every situation, however dark and unhappy has armed him with a lot of quality laughing material and allowed him to add a positive spin on what most of us would find a terrifying and painful experience. For example, as a male with only half of his, err… nuts to worry about – he now enjoys the comfort of skinny jeans, something many men could not attest to – a silver lining, and so on.

At times Michael’s jokes are quite self-deprecating, but it certainly doesn’t come off as a lack of confidence, in fact he owns the tale of his own journey and almost dares his audience to find something negative about it all. He’s a survivor, and he’s here for a bloody good laugh about it all.

But, it’s not all just about cancer. Michael puts forwards some popular opinions we all share about the overshare of peoples #fitspo lifestyle, respectfully pokes fun at his own Jewish heritage and builds support in the audience for ‘the bald’.

Heavy, but not – Michael Shafar’s 50/50 is a good night out if you are looking for some solid chuckles and inspiration to get behind someone who quite literally laughed in the face of death.

Pidapipo and ITALiAN ARTiSANS

Come and enjoy the perfect sweet treat called Tartufo, an ice cream dessert originating from Calabria.

The traditional Italian dessert, which means trufflein Italian, is comprised of a flavour of ice cream with syrup in the centre and then covered in a shell made of chocolate.

Lisa and Tony, Pidapipo owner, have developed two Tartufo flavours as part of the collaboration; Hazelnut gelato with gianduja centre, covered in crushed hazelnuts and a milk chocolate shell; and to make life a little sweeter, a fior di latte gelato with a coffee centre, covered in white chocolate shavings.

Both tartufo flavours will be available at ITALiAN ARTiSANS ongoing and all three Pidapipo stores (including Uber Eats) for one week from 5 April. Be sure to book your next dinner date in, as it will most certainly give you a taste of Italy right in the heart of Melbourne.

TAKE YOUR MEDITATION PRACTICE UP A LEVEL THIS APRIL

Start your weekend the right way on Saturday 6 April with Moving Meditation , an unlikely pairing between King & Godfree’s Johnny’s Green Room and Universal Practice, the go-to Physiotherapy, Pilates and Yoga studio in Melbourne.

Johnny’s Green Room, Melbourne’s hottest new sky-high bar will transform into its own rooftop yoga atelier for one morning, with guests treated to a 45-minute session at 8:30am.

Universal Practice founder, Sammy Wilson, will lead Moving Mediation  which combines a blend of yoga and meditation, benefiting the body through movement and the mind through stillness. Go on, spend Autumn School Hols and Easter at Luna Park this April!

CREATIVE ART SPACES, ACTIVE ACROBATS AND YUMMY SCRUMMY EGG HUNTS, PLUS ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR WILL HAVE THE KIDS BEGGING TO GET TO LUNA PARK (NOT JUST ONCE) THIS AUTUMN SCHOOL BREAK!

Term one’s done and now it’s time for fun, so bringing the family into Luna Park more than once during 6 April to 28 April sounds like a good plan, right? Sure does! With super-fun activities running throughout the break, it would be a shame to be entertained just once, especially with a special bonus week thrown in.

Visit during the school break and everyone can enjoy the many attractions and swinging high on all the thrilling rides including popular newbies – Speedy Beetle, Moon Balloons and sweet mini-train Betty Choo Choo. Grab single ride tickets, or even better upgrade to Unlimited Ride Tickets and enjoy the excitement all day-long.

For the creative bunnies out there, ‘Art Spaces’ will be set up the weekends of 6 & 7 April and 13 & 14 April where the littlies can let rip with their painting! To celebrate the release of ‘Wonder Park’, 35 easels will be set up for the kids to create a Wonder Park-inspired painting for their chance to win FUN movie merchandise. If you get in early the first 200 people to purchase a Luna Park Family Pass online will be given a family in-season pass to see the movie released on 4 April. When Easter arrives, make sure to get to the Park in time for ‘The Great Luna Park Easter Egg Hunt’ happening on two days back-to-back. This year, all the choco-mad kids can once again hunt for more than 30,000 Chocolatier eggs on Saturday 20 April and Easter Sunday 21 April. Make sure to watch out for resident mad-as-mad Mad Hatter and the energetic Easter Bunny Acrobats bouncing about exuberantly entertaining everyone on both days! The hunts will run from 12.30pm until 3.15pm and entry to this activity is free with an Unlimited Ride Ticket.

With so much on offer right throughout the school holidays during April consider making it two dates instead of one at Luna Park! Begin the month by enjoying the action and the art followed by more action and plenty of eggs to be had later in the month. And if you can’t make it until towards the end of April don’t fret there is an extra special week in the mix from 22 to 28 April!
