The Beat of Brunswick St

A brand new event is about to hit the streets of Fitzroy. This February, The Beat of Brunswick St will see over 55+ bars, cafes, established music venues and stores on Brunswick St and immediate surrounds filled with live music and DJs spinning the beats. Booze and Eats at Fat Tuesday New Orleans Festival

In New Orleans, a “Fat Tuesday”  celebration is a day where everyone in the state will come together to celebrate the last day of the Carnival season! Coming together with floats, masks and good food and drinks, it’s the perfect chance to celebrate before the fasting period of Lent begins. Last night, Po’ Boy Quarter and Ding Dong Lounge partnered together to give Melbourne a taste of a typical New Orleans Fat Tuesday celebration. Set up in Argyle Square, Carlton, (which in our opinion is a much underused outdoor space) the festivities kicked off early at 4pm. With the afternoon sun beating down, crowds flocked to the sidelines for a bit of shade and to save their dancing feet for later in the evening. Belleville’s Lunar New Year Celebrations

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo marches into Melbourne this week for the first time ever! The World’s Largest High Heel Race

Achieving a Guinness World Record is no easy task. From deciding which challenge to try, to the training and preparation involved in beating the last record holder, it’s easy to give up and feel defeated. On February 14, The World’s Largest High Heel Race is happening and they are looking for people to participate! The race will be held at the St Kilda Festival and funds raised will go towards The Warwick Cancer Foundation, an organisation that aims to raise funds for young Australians living with cancer. Meat Fish Wine Tasting

A couple of weeks ago the We Know Melbourne team were invited to taste the new menu at Meat Fish Wine. Located right in the heart of QV, next to their sister restaurant Red Spice QV, the restaurant and wine bar are known for their extensive wine collection (featuring over 500 wines) and top tasting dishes. The tasting was an intimate setting, sitting down on an outside table with a couple of other well known Melbourne foodies, including @topfoodmelbourne. Each dish that was brought out was given the rundown by Chef David Schofield, explaining the detail that went into cooking it to perfection.  Some of the dishes we got to try include: Cheese damper with bush tomato jam Wagyu Rump Cap, Roasted Shallot Puree Normally not a huge carnivore, we found the wagyu so tender and we couldn’t help go back for seconds. Good Beer Week 2016

Beer lovers clear your calendars for Good Beer Week this May and fill your week with a whole lot of frothy filled fun. The official festival will kick off with the program launching at the Gala Showcase at the Fitzroy Town Hall on March 18, 2016. The main event will run from May 14 to May 22 and event-goers will have the opportunity to sample beers and find out all the insider tips from brewers from Victoria and all over the globe. Since it’s humble beginning over a round of beers at a city bar in 2011, Good Beer Week has grown to last year include 250 events across 180 venues, and this year promises to be the biggest event yet.  The frosty filled week will welcome thousands of beer lovers and brewers to Melbourne and Victoria from all over the globe.
