Connoisseur Food and Design Weekend

This November, Broadsheet are joining forces with ice cream aficionados, Connoisseur for a one-off weekend food and design market. Make your way to this Brooklyn inspired market  and indulge in food from Melbourne’s favourite Brooklyn-inspired restaurants (Bowery to Williamsburg, 5 and Dime Bagel, Nieuw Amsterdam, Shawcross Pizza) and  ice-cream flavours from New York ice-cream lords OddFellows – who have recently collaborated with Connoisseur to serving variations of their world-famous ice-cream sandwiches. All icecream sandwiches will be made with biscuits from Tuck Shop Take Away and flavours include Bed Stuy: peanut butter & pretzel with sweet cream, Coney Island: golden syrup with a butter swirl and corn nuts, Flatbush: chocolate brownie with chocolate custard, and Williamsburg:matcha green tea with white chocolate waffle cone. In true flea market fashion, there’ll also be a range of stalls where you can pick up beautiful crafted homewares and accessories from some of the best local designers such as  Arro Home , Alchemy Produx,  Cool Cactus Co,  Kitiya Palaskas,  Emily Green, plus more. Food Truck Park Collins Street Pop-up

City workers now have another reason to leave their desk at lunch! As of November 7, The Food Truck Park™ have parked up to the ‘Paris’ end of Collins St. The pop up Food Truck Park™ will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with a daily rotation of one-off culinary truck delights each and everyday from Monday to Friday. The truck lineup includes the likes of Barry’s, Greek St Food, Real Burgers, Lukumades plus many more. Summer Night Markets

The Summer Night Market (SNM) are bringing the fun back to your Wednesday nights. An annual summer favourite, the SNM brings an array of great seasonal food and entertainment offerings including unique food options, deliciously refreshing drinks and a buzzing summer atmosphere to enjoy the various live music on offer. Kicking off on Wednesday 16 November with a disco funk theme, each week will bring a different theme and free music with roving entertainment.  Included in the line up for summer are That Gold Street Band, a funk and soul party band from Melbourne, The Everymen, a combo of Piano and Drums blended throughout a bottomed blues vibe and James Kenyon who threads narrative through music to re-tell Australian stories. Make sure you come hungry as there will be plenty of stalls to tempt  your grumbling belly. Night Noodle Markets

It’s that time of the year again. A favourite on all foodies calendar, the Night Noodle Markets! From November 10-27 for 18 glorious nights of Good Food Month, Melbourne’s idyllic, much loved Birrarung Marr will be transformed into an Asian hawker-style market where you can dine on all sorts of spicy, sweet and sour asian dishes along with thirst quenching drinks. Complete with more than 30 food stalls, a record 56 stalls three bars plus nightly entertainment, this year is set to be bigger and better than ever before.  There’ll be all the usual favourites like Longrain, Chin Chin, Wonderbao, Red Spice Road, as well as desserts from Gelato Messina and Black Star Pastry x N2 Extreme Gelato. Punchbowl Canteen

Burrowed in the industrial streets of Port Melbourne, is the vibrant and colourful Punchbowl Canteen. Opened in what was the old Salfords Lords Club, the cafe has transformed the old warehouse space into a striking space full of pops of colour. Covering the back wall of the cafe is a giant 10 foot mural by acclaimed Australian illustrator and designer, Leah Bartholomew bringing an overall warmth to the open area. The food is all about rustic, wholesome flavours, with a focus on keeping it simple but doing it well. Head Chef, Elizabeth Milroy’s twist on traditional dishes adds to the unique vibe of the whole cafe. Previously working at St Ali and Fitzrovia, upon dining on the food her unique touches are evident through dishes such as the Korean Fried Chicken Burger with Kim chi slaw and fries, Pumpkin Doughnuts cinnamon sugar with whipped yoghurt and freeze dried mandarin, and the Fish Cake Scotch Egg radish, pear, chard and shaved beetroot salad, curry mayo. Foodie friends unite! Taste Melbourne returns to Albert Park this November with all of Melbourne’s hotspots for you to try. A favourite annual event for all Melbourne foodies, the festival will run from November 10 – 13, with over 80 artisan producers, craft beers, wine tastings, live music, inspiring talks and interactive masterclasses. Buy your tokens at the ticket desk and eat your way across the park. Each restaurant will offer a choice of three delicious dishes, plus their limited edition ‘icon dishes’. Cake Bake & Sweets Show

A Chocolate Roadtrip

All Melbournians know, a road trip to the Yarra Valley is nowhere near complete without a cheeky little stop on the way home to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie (& Ice Creamery) to stock up on edible Christmas presents, random gifts or even just something fabulous to eat on the drive home.
