Cat Lovers Show 2018

The cat’s out of the bag – those Melburnians who are crazy about kitties will be feline fine when the inaugural Cat Lovers Show pounces on the Royal Exhibition Building on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 September 2018.

Following the unprecedented success of the award-winning Dog Lovers Show and after increasing demand from the cat loving community, Event Management International (EMI) is excited to be launching the first and greatest feline-festival Australia has ever seen.

“Unsurprisingly, nearly 30 percent of households in Australia are home to at least one cat (2.7 million)*. The Cat Lovers Show will be dedicated to educating, informing and entertaining visitors in a truly memorable way and is an opportunity for them to connect and cuddle with dozens of breeds and hundreds of beautiful cats.

One of the main objectives of the show is to raise awareness for cat rescue and working closely with shelters across Australia to drive adoptions whilst educating people about responsible and committed cat ownership,” said Jason Humphris, Cat Lovers Show creator.

With additional programming and features to be confirmed, here is a paw-full of attractions that visitors can expect to experience at the Show:
Royal Canin Stage
Celebrity vets, behaviour experts, trainers and wild cat conservationists including Dr Katrina Warren, Dr Harry Cooper, Kelly Gill, Dr Jo Righetti, Rosalie Horton and Nat Geo Wild’s Ben Britton will present eduCATional talks ranging from health, lifestyle, training, solving common cat conundrums and insights into the similarities between wild and domesticated cats. Interviews with famous cats from around the world will also take place ‘live via satellite’ on the big screen!

Visitors will get the rare opportunity to snap a selfie with some of Instagram’s most famous felines at the Insta-Kitty feature. Bringing plenty of cattitude to the catwalk, these social media stars will slink down the red carpet, be interviewed and interact (briefly!) with their adoring fans.

Cat Adoption Zone
More than 25 percent of cats in Australia are rescued or adopted from shelters. Most of the exhibitors participating in the Cat Adoption Zone will also bring dozens of cats to the show who are looking for their new fur-ever homes.
