Scandinavian Film Festival

The inaugural Scandinavian Film Festival returns to Melbourne this winter. More than just noir: the Volvo Scandinavian Film Festival will see new dramas, documentaries and laughs on the big screens across the Palace Cinemas. Brew Fest

Something’s brewing at the Immigration Museum this winter! Discover the role of brewing in cuisine, culture and community; from contemporary craft beers and sake tastings to mulled wine and beer based cocktails at Brew Fest this June 19. To warm you up, there’ll be all your favourite brewed beverages with talks and workshops hosted by Hawkers Brewery, Black Pearl Bar and Melbourne’s own Sake Master Andre Bishop. Wicked Chocolate Festival

If you’ve got a massive sweet tooth like us, then Prahran Market’s Wicked Chocolate Festival will be your idea of heaven! On Saturday May 7, the entire Market will be transformed into a chocolate wonderland of sensory delights and the cost of entry is free! See, taste, smell and enjoy everything chocolate with foodie fun activities suitable for the whole family, including a Taste the Chocolate Trail ticketed event featuring the Market’s mouth-watering chocolate delicacies; a pop-up Chocolate Precinct; free chocolate cooking demos, a producers’ stage, a ticketed cake making event at Essential Ingredient, free tastings and more. Wine and Cheese Fest

The Wine and Cheese Fest returns this weekend and this year they are in a brand new location! Following the great success of the 2014 and 2015 spring events at Seaworks in Williamstown, The Wine and Cheese Fest is moving to the Meat Market heritage building in North Melbourne with new autumn outlook. Take a wander through the various stalls on offer with over 40+ exhibitors showcasing their best cheeses and wine! Melbourne Food & Wine Festival

MARCS Laneway Festival

Summer is almost over for another year, but in typical Melbourne style, Melbourne has a few festivals on this week to close out the season with a bang. This Sunday, the  MARCS (Melbourne Art Restaurant Cocktail Sound) Laneway Festival will be taking over ACDC Lane and Duckboard Place to celebrate the essence of ‘what is’ Melbourne’s culture and lifestyle. Transitions Film Festival

Transitions Film Festival returns to Cinema Nova next Friday and if you’re a documentary buff you’ll love this year’s program. With films covering an enormous spectrum of controversial and empowering topics including, activist grandmas, global tax avoidance, the history of climate change, and so much more, this year’s Transitions Film Festival places a strong emphasis on ideas and impact. To kick off the program there will be a pre-festival outdoor screening at City Square in partnership with The New Joneses, and Federation Square in partnership with Pause Fest, before the opening night screening of Catching The Sun at Cinema Nova on the 18th of February. Po’ Boy Quarter joins forces with Ding Dong Lounge to present Fat Tuesday New Orleans Festival Melbourne on Tuesday, 9 Feb at Piazza Italia, Argyle Street in Carlton. New Orleans is known for it’s party vibe, delicious food, jazz music and of course a swinging good time, and this festival promises all that. Victorian Cider & Pork Festival 2016

Set amongst the vines at the picturesque Rochford Wines,  for the first time ever in Victoria – the Yarra Valley will play host to the inaugural Victorian“2016 Cider and Pork Festival” – to be held over the Australia Day Long Weekend. Celebrate the humble pig and crushed apple at this two-day festival where there’ll be more than 75 international and Australian ciders will be on showcase -with more than 15 local hero boutique cider producers in attendance, including- St Ronan’s Cider, Napoleone Cider, Punt Road Cider, Batlow Cider Co, Square Keg Cider, Hills Cider, Custard & Co, Daylesford Cider Co, Flying Brick, Sidekick Cider, Young Henrys and many more. Tropfest makes a comeback

Feel the love as the world’s largest short film festival, Tropfest makes a Valentine’s Day comeback. Short film fans around Australia were heartbroken when earlier this year it was announced that the iconic event was cancelled, but thanks to the generous sponsor CGU Insurance, the Festival has received a lifeline and will be back on Sunday 14 February 2016 in Centennial Parklands, Sydney (with fingers crossed a live screening in Melbourne).  Twenty-one years on, Tropfest Australia attracted a live national audience of around 150,000 people on a single night and today more than 1.6 million people have attended a Tropfest event over it’s lifetime.  “As a free, outdoor event, Tropfest makes short film accessible to all.
