Juniperlooza returns to Melbourne

After the success of last year’s all gin festival, Juniperlooza will be returning to Federation Wharf for another fun-filled gin weekend. Sip on gin from the very best independent Australian and international gin producers while enjoying delicious food, entertainment and music by the river.  There’ll be a total of twenty-four local and international producers  showcasing their gin, so you’ll never go dry. For the extra  gin obsessed you’ll want to make sure you  secure a spot in the intimate Talk + Taste sessions. Pinot Palooza

A touring Pinot Noir festival, Pinot Palooza is all your pinot dreams come true. Now in it’s fifth year, the festival will bring some of the best pinots from Australia & New Zealand to Melbourne.  Throughout the day, wine drinkers can soak up the music, taste some delicious food from free range rotisserie, Bird on a Wire and cast their vote in the People’s Choice. Malaysia Street Festival

Taste authentic Malaysian food at the Malaysia Street Festival at the Queen Victoria Market this October. Melbourne Music Week

On any day of the week in Melbourne, you can catch a live gig from some of Melbourne’s finest local musicians. That’s the beauty of Melbourne! To celebrate our incredible music scene, the City of Melbourne is throwing an  eight-day party this November, dedicated to illuminating the city’s robust, world-renowned music scene, known as Melbourne Music Week (MMW). Last year’s program saw over 110 events, featuring 250 contributing artists with input from more than 60 dedicated event partners in almost 40 locations across this music city – and this year’s festival is set to be even bigger. This year, the State Library of Victoria, has been announced as the 2016 hub of Melbourne Music Week (MMW), and the original reading room, Queen’s Hall, will be the main performance space. Foodie friends unite! Taste Melbourne returns to Albert Park this November with all of Melbourne’s hotspots for you to try. A favourite annual event for all Melbourne foodies, the festival will run from November 10 – 13, with over 80 artisan producers, craft beers, wine tastings, live music, inspiring talks and interactive masterclasses. Dance your heart out at Listen Out Festival

Interview: Alex Castro | Cine Latino Film Festival

This August, Melbourne cinephile will be treated to the first ever Cine Latino: A NewFestival of Latin American Cinema. With over 30 films from over 11 countries, the festival is dedicated to exploring the diverse and exciting Latin American cinema of now. We spoke to festival programmer, Alex Castro (former Melbourne Latin American Film Festival Director) ahead of the festival to find out his recommendations for the festival and the inspiration behind it.  This is a brand new film festival to Melbourne (and Australia). What inspired you to put together this festival? For many years now the Spanish Film Festival has presented excellent Spanish-language films from Latin American countries such as Argentina, Peru, Chile, Uruguay and Colombia. But too many great films were missing out. Cine Latino: Festival of Latin American Cinema gives us the chance to screen a greater number of these quality films, plus we get to see films from Latin America that are not in Spanish, especially Brazil. The Light in Winter
