Food Trucks meet Fashion at Chadstone

Food trucks are taking over Melbourne and their next truck stop party is at Chadstone! Just in time for summer, Melbourne’s finest food trucks will descend on the Fashion Capital launching this Friday, 13th November at 11am  until 10pm daily. The food trucks will give shoppers the much needed break from crossing off their Christmas lists for a few share plates with family and friends in the alfresco atmosphere. There’ll be over 30 food trucks on rotation inlcuding Sliders on Tyres, Cali & Co, Dude Food Man, Toasta and more. Whether you’re in bibimbaps, burgers, or brulees, the food trucks are the perfect stop when the crowds get too much. When: Friday 13 November – Sunday 3 January. Melbourne’s very first Gin festival

Did you know there are more classic cocktails made with gin than with any other spirit? To celebrate this fine spirit,  Pilgrim and Riverland have joined forces with The West Winds Gin to bring to Melbourne, Melbourne first gin festival, Juniperlooza. Launching the summer season at Federation Wharf,  Junipeplooza’s program is filled with  gin tastings, ‘meet the maker’ sessions, pop up bars and gin inspired food stalls from some of Melbourne’s favourite and freshest establishments as well as plenty of live entertainment across. Time Out Melbourne Bar Awards are back

Mexican Day of the Dead Workshop

Dia de los Muertos—the Day of the Dead—is a holiday celebrated on November 1 and in case you didn’t know it’s really a celebration of life. The Mexican holiday celebrates the lives of the deceased with food, drink, parties, and activities the dead enjoyed in life. Want to know more? Learn all about this Mexican holiday at the Immigration Museum’s Mexican Day of the Dead Workshop. The folks from La Tortilleria and Tequila Tromba will be there to set up the scene for a delicious afternoon of cooking demos, talks and complimentary recipes. This November, two of the top Melbourne Foodie giants will battle it out for the ultimate foodie showdown for The Age Good Food Month. The two chefs will fire up the stoves and prepare their pans for the ultimate cook off at Melbourne’s Ms Collins with  Daniel Wilson (Huxtable)  on the Pan Asian flavours and Daniel Poyner cooking up the modern Australian flavours. Who will be your vote for the top dog? Fitzroy’s 127 Brunswick Street

Opening just in time for summer, 127 Brunswick Street is the newest dining spot on the ever popular Brunswick Street. Taking over the old man’s pub, the Old Colonial Inn, the newly revamped 5 story venue, 127 Brunswick Street is the works of Vince Sofo and Paul Adamo, owners of St Kilda’s Esplanade Hotel. Exploring the venue this week, there’s several spots from which to choose to dine or drink. There’s Ichi Ni Nana Izakaya on the bottom floor, Village People Hawker Food Hall on the next floor up, and Upside Rooftop and Bar, of course on the top floor. Each has their indoor and outdoor dining space, making them the perfect place to enjoy dinner on a balmy summer’s evening. We opted for Ichi Ni Nana Izakaya after a couple of wines at Upside Rooftop. We had heard such positive reviews of Ichi Ni (in St Kilda) so are our expectations were high, and we’ve got to say that it lived up to all the hype.
